In Ogun State, a 20-year-old man named Ridwan was taken into custody after he allegedly killed his father as part of a ritualistic money-making scheme.
In the state’s Oshoku village, Ijebu North Local Government Area, Ridwan was detained by members of the Ogun State So-Safe Corps
In a statement issued by the corps’ spokesman, Moruf Yusuf, the commander of the So-Safe Corps, Soji Ganzallo, claimed that on Thursday during a regular patrol in Oshoku, officers of the corps noticed an odd noise coming from a building.
To the officers’ dismay, they discovered a man’s body lying still in a pool of blood and the alleged killer had fled the scene, Ganzallo claimed. The cops had entered the premises to verify what was happening.
Ganzallo claimed he gave the Ijebu Zonal Command’s Marcus Ayankoya the order to apprehend the alleged murderer within a day.
The alleged murderer was discovered hiding in a bush and taken into custody.
He stated that “he confessed to having killed his father, Ishau, with a rope tied to his neck and a knife used to remove the necessary parts of his body for ritual purposes.”
The corps commander stated that the alleged murderer admitted to the corps’ officers that, while being questioned, “he only removed the private part, larynx, and just four teeth of his father as requested by a ritualist he identified as Baba Kekere.”
Ganzallo added that when he was pressed for information regarding the ritualist’s whereabouts, he remained silent.
