The Nigerian government, in collaboration with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), has successfully evacuated approximately 4,055 stranded Nigerians from various countries between February and July 2023. The evacuations were carried out in response to the challenges faced by Nigerians in foreign countries.
The evacuations included 2,849 individuals from Sudan, 752 from Libya, 441 from the Niger Republic, and 13 from Saudi Arabia. These efforts have been ongoing as part of the government’s commitment to assisting its citizens who find themselves in difficult situations abroad.
The government has been dedicating significant resources to these evacuation operations, reflecting the importance it places on the safety and welfare of its citizens. Irregular migration and its associated security risks remain a concern, and efforts are being made to address these challenges and provide support to those in need.
