Four guys were detained by vigilantes in Gurungawa town, Kumbotso LGA, Kano State for reportedly snatching ducks and a dog.
Abdulhamid Dan-Azumi, the town’s vigilante commandant, claimed that his men had observed the suspects’ movements about three in the morning when the dogs were barking, and that one of the dogs had been killed.
He named Sunusi Muhammad Abubakar, Sulaiman Baffa, and Buhari Adamu, who are all from Kano’s Sheka Quarters, as well as Walid Ishak from the town’s Gandun Albasa neighborhood, as the suspects.
“We discovered that they had been engaged in the act for a considerable amount of time after we arrested them,” the commandant added. One of them has a reputation for stealing pets and shipping them to the South of the nation.
“We found weapons on them, too. The police will be given the weapons”.
One of the defendants later confessed to the crime, saying, “We bought the dog, and one of us is taking them to the South. But we only picked up the ducks as we were walking and placed them in sacks. God willing, this will be our final time.
