Seven infamous criminal suspects who have been active for years have been detained by the Enugu State Police Command in the Holy Ghost axis of Enugu city.
Nine female handbags, two wallets, two wheel spanners, an iron saw, a functional Dell laptop, an ATM card with the name “Joy Akiji,” a National Identity Number registration form, and other incriminating items that had been stolen from victims were found by police agents during the operation.
This is stated in a statement made on Wednesday in Enugu by DSP Daniel Ndukwe, the command’s spokesman.
According to Ndukwe, the arrest happened after a raid carried out in the Holy Ghost area of the city of Enugu on the state commissioner of police’s order, Kanayo Uzuegbu.
According to a police spokesman, the arrest and raid took place on Friday, October 27, 2023, in the evening.
During a police raid in the Holy Ghost railway axis, Christ Chemist, Old Park, and surrounding areas, seven male suspects who were known for attacking and robbing innocent people of their possessions were taken into custody.
There were several suspects identified, none of whose addresses were known: Okonkwo Sunday, 35, also known as Oga Sunny; Nwankwoala Tochukwu, 25, also known as TC Boy; Ogbu Mmaduabuchi, 18; Miracle Chukwu, 20; Nwali Chinedu, 23; Ananchonam Chinecherem, 18, also known as Razor; and Junior Nwamini, 20, also known as Small.
He said, “The suspects have all admitted to the crime, been charged, and been placed under remand in the Correctional Custodial Center.”
According to Ndukwe, the commissioner had praised and tasked police officers with keeping up the pace while urging citizens to continue supporting the police in their attempts to apprehend lawbreakers who had not yet expressed regret for their actions.
