Dutch club Feyenoord have confirmed the departure of Robin van Persie as head coach, ending his 16-month spell in charge despite leading the team to a second-place finish and qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
Van Persie, who returned to his boyhood club in February 2025, oversaw 58 matches and recorded 30 victories during Robin tenure. While the former Netherlands striker secured Champions League football, Feyenoord’s management said a broader review of the team’s progress influenced the decision.
According to technical director Devy Rigaux, concerns over the club’s style of play and declining points tally in both domestic and European competitions prompted the change. Feyenoord have yet to announce a replacement ahead of preparations for the 2026/27 season.
