Former Lagos lawmaker, Ipoola Omisore, has praised Speaker Mudashiru Obasa of the Lagos State House of Assembly for his instrumental role in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s success in the February 25 election. In a conversation with journalists, Omisore, a marketing communication practitioner and politician, acknowledged Obasa as a key stakeholder who utilized his resources, influence, and time to secure Tinubu’s victory in the All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential primaries and the general election.
Omisore, who will celebrate his 75th birthday this weekend, commended Obasa’s re-election as the speaker for the third term and expressed that it was no surprise to those who knew him well. He highlighted Obasa’s loyalty to the APC and President Tinubu, as well as his contributions to the state’s development, as factors that warranted his consecutive re-election.
Regarding Tinubu’s presidential ambitions, Omisore revealed that Obasa played a significant role in initiating the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Foundation (BAT Foundation). The foundation, which he directed, received funding from Obasa and conducted extensive public relations work nationwide to bolster the pro-Tinubu campaign. Additionally, Omisore credited Obasa’s financial contributions, establishment of a secretariat, and philanthropic endeavors, such as supporting the needy, implementing skills acquisition programs, and empowering the youth, as crucial elements in ensuring the success of Tinubu’s campaign.
Omisore emphasized the importance of wise mentorship in politics, highlighting that only a wise person can guide and mentor a subordinate due to their ability to envision a broader perspective. He praised Obasa’s astuteness in recognizing and aligning himself with Tinubu’s aspirations, adjusting his political ambitions accordingly. Omisore concluded by wishing Obasa continued success in his political career and urged him to maintain his exceptional work in the state and his constituency.
