“Osun APC and PDP Engage in Battle over List of Commissioner Nominees”

The Osun State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are embroiled in a verbal dispute regarding the list of commissioner nominees submitted to the House of Assembly by Governor Ademola Adeleke.

Governor Adeleke presented a list of 25 nominees for screening as commissioners. However, the APC criticized the list, calling it the worst collection of government officials in the state’s 32-year history. On the other hand, the PDP defended the nominees, asserting that they are capable individuals who possess the skills to elevate the state.

The APC, through its state chairman Tajudeen Lawal, expressed disappointment with the list, considering it a failure on the part of the Adeleke-led administration. The party raised concerns about the nominees’ backgrounds and questioned the inclusion of former interior minister allies, Kolapo Alimi and Biyi Odunlade, suggesting a secret alliance between the defunct faction of the APC (The Osun Progressives – TOP) and the PDP.

In response, the state chairman of the PDP, Sunday Bisi, praised the commissioner nominees, describing them as experienced individuals with notable achievements in both the private and public sectors. He emphasized that the list was carefully curated, taking into account federal constituencies, interest groups, and professional considerations.

The PDP dismissed the APC’s criticism, suggesting that the party was too consumed by post-election trauma to acknowledge the caliber of individuals selected for the positions. The PDP highlighted that the state is already reaping the benefits of good governance and expressed confidence that the new cabinet would further contribute to the growth and development of Osun State under Governor Ademola Adeleke’s leadership.
