Damilola Opeyemi, a nursing mother, was charged on Monday in front of a magistrates’ court in Iyaganku, Ibadan, Oyo State, with murdering her husband over dinner.
As she remanded the suspect and continued the case till September 27, Magistrate P. O. Adetuyibi refused to accept the suspect’s plea.
Adetuyibi stated that the Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecution’s (DPP) legal opinion was required before the remand was granted.
Earlier, Insp. Olalekan Adegbite, the prosecutor, informed the court that “Damilola who lived in the Adogba Ajegede area, Ibadan, stabbed her husband, Oluwashina (27), during a heated argument over dinner.”
He stated that the offense violated Section 316 of the Criminal Code Law of Oyo State 2000 and was penalized under Section 319.
