Ogun State Government Website Falls Victim to Cyber Attack

The official website of the Ogun state government (www.ogunstate.gov.ng) has fallen victim to a recent cyber attack. The breach was detected on Wednesday morning.

The perpetrators, operating under the name “Anon Ghost” and claiming to be located in the Maldives, identified themselves as Aliester Crowley. The website now displays their bold inscription along with what appears to be their logo. Their message emphasizes their legendary status and a warning that they do not forgive or forget.

All pages of the website have been defaced in this attack. Unfortunately, this is not the first time that the Ogun state government has experienced such a security breach. In 2015, cyber terrorists targeted the website and also urged the government to enhance its security measures.

Numerous other Nigerian government websites have fallen prey to similar hacking incidents, including the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA), Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).

Kunle Somorin, the chief press secretary to Governor Dapo Abiodun, expressed unawareness of the hack but assured that the issue would be promptly addressed. He stated that he would reach out to the social media team to take immediate action.
