13 Chinese have been detained by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) agents of the Ilorin Zonal Command for alleged illicit mining in Kwara State.
Twelve males and one female suspect were taken into custody on Wednesday in Ilorin’s GRA.
This action, according to the commission followed credible intelligence of their illegal mining activities and boycotting payment of royalties to the federal government as directed by law contrary to and punishable under under Section 1(8) (b) of the Miscellaneous Offences Act Cap M17, 1983.
Spokesman of EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, stated that the investigation leading to their arrest revealed that the chinese had various illegal mining sites in almost every area of the state.
