Tobi Amusan, the world record holder in the women’s 100m hurdles, has been charged by the Athletic Integrity Unit (AIU) for missing doping tests. The AIU accused Amusan of violating its rule by failing to attend three tests within a 12-month period.
In response to the charges, Amusan took to Instagram to assert her innocence as a clean athlete and vowed to contest the allegations. She stated that she had been tested by the AIU regularly and was even tested within days of her alleged third missed test. Amusan expressed confidence that the issue would be resolved in her favor and that she would be able to compete in the upcoming World Championships in August.
Amusan, who has been in exceptional form recently, is expected to defend her title at the 2023 World Athletics Championship. She secured a victory at the Gyulai Istvan Memorial in Hungary, clocking a time of 12.25 seconds in the women’s 100m hurdles. Prior to that, she set a new meet record with a season-best time of 12.34 seconds at the Silesia Diamond League in Poland.
