Two former commissioners from Kano State’s former Abdullahi Umar Ganduje administration passed away in the last three days.
On Friday, the commissioners for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhassan Muhammad Dawaki, and the commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Barrister Zubaida Damakka, both passed away.
Dawaki, who had 15 children and 15 wives, passed away at the age of 79 after a brief illness.
She passed away in Abuja following a brief illness, according to a friend of the late Damakka who is a former Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Social Media named Abubakar Aminu Ibrahim. She is survived by a husband and three children.
Ibrahim Garba Shu’aibu, the Deputy Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, described Dawaki as a well-known and respected individual whose untimely death had left a vacuum in the hearts of many.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf expressed his sympathy to the grieving family and expressed his appreciation for their strength and fortitude during this difficult time. He also noted the great loss that Dawaki’s passing signified.
