A suspect has been arrested in connection with a shooting at a street party in Muncie, Indiana, that killed one person and injured 17 others.
John L. Vance, 36, was arrested Tuesday afternoon and accused with “several felonies,” according to a statement from the city of Muncie. The message did not indicate what charges Vance was facing or how many he was facing.
According to the statement, the arrest was referred to the Delaware County Prosecutor’s office for evaluation and possibility of additional charges.
According to investigators, the incident occurred early Sunday at a block party attended by hundreds of revelers, while police were calling the venue’s owner to shut down the gathering.
The gunfire killed Joseph E. Bonner III, 30, of Muncie, Indiana, who was among those attending the massive party, according to Muncie Police Chief Nathan Sloan.
