David Umahi, former Governor of Ebonyi State and current Senator representing Ebonyi South Senatorial District, has shared a heart-wrenching story of his father’s passing due to medical negligence at an undisclosed private hospital.
During a recent plenary session, the 60-year-old recounted the tragic incident, stating, “My father died because of the negligence of that private hospital.”
Umahi explained that his father was initially treated at a government hospital by a doctor. However, the doctor referred him to a private hospital owned by the same practitioner. Unfortunately, his father’s life was claimed by the negligence of the medical staff at the private hospital.
This revelation comes shortly after Senate President Godswill Akpabio disclosed that he too had suffered the loss of a grandchild due to medical negligence. Akpabio shared this painful experience during the screening of a ministerial nominee, Dr. Tunji Alausa, revealing that his grandson had passed away in 2019 at a federal medical center in Nigeria.
