The case file of the people who are accused of killing a butcher named Usman Buda because of allegedly blasphemous remarks made in Sokoto has been sent from Sokoto to Abuja, according to the Sokoto State Police Command.
In Sokoto, Buda was allegedly accused of blasphemy and killed by a mob on June 24 near Mahuta, just a few days before the Eid-el-Kabir festival.
In a phone conversation with reporters on Friday night, the command’s spokesman, ASP Ahmad Rufa’i, verified this.
He clarified that the matter was transferred to allow for more research.
In his words, “The case file has been transferred to Abuja, along with all the suspects arrested, for further investigation and possible prosecution.”
At least eight individuals who took part in the murder have been arrested, according to a source in the command.
“We arrested two individuals before the matter was transferred to Abuja two weeks ago, and the Abuja police then detained additional suspects. I believe they detained six or seven other suspects, he stated.
