Bishop David Oyedepo, the visionary behind the Living Faith Church, recently shared a personal revelation about his feelings when reading Ezekiel 18:24. He disclosed this insight during the concluding moments of the Covenant Hour of Prayer gathering.
He initiated his address by urging his congregation to pray for the grace to uphold unwavering commitment as followers of Jesus Christ. Drawing from Ezekiel 18:24, he illuminated the concept that if a righteous individual reverts to sinful ways, their previous righteous deeds would be overshadowed and they would be held accountable for their transgressions.
In an attempt to emphasize the divine perspective, he conveyed, “God’s ways are not our ways. On this part of Jordan if a man does good all his life and makes one mistake, we will say he has tried; let us remember the good he has done. But that’s not the way it is with God”
Ezekiel 18:24 reads:
“But if a righteous person turns from their righteousness and commits sin and does the same detestable things the wicked person does, will they live? None of the righteous things that person has done will be remembered. Because of the unfaithfulness they are guilty of and because of the sins they have committed, they will die.”
“You might say that is not fair. Are you God? Can you be fairer than God? I am always scared when I read Ezekiel 18:24. I am always scared when I see this verse. All the good you do will be forgetten and you will be judged by that wrong? We need grace my friend. We need grace,” he said.
