Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has declared an unyielding commitment to combatting the menace of banditry within the region. During a recent security council meeting, Governor Lawal emphasized the urgent need to dismantle bandits’ strongholds across the state, urging security leaders to take decisive action.
Leading the security council gathering, Governor Lawal assured that his administration is dedicated to heightening and prolonging the campaign against banditry in the area. In a statement conveyed by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Idris, it was revealed that the meeting encompassed comprehensive briefings from heads of various security agencies operating within the state.
Governor Lawal reiterated that safeguarding the lives and property of citizens stands as his top priority. He stressed his administration’s unwavering commitment to providing unreserved support to all pertinent security organizations.
“With utmost resolve to prioritize security, Governor Dauda Lawal presided over the security council meeting. He was apprised of the joint efforts undertaken by security agencies in the battle against banditry,” the statement read.
Concerns were raised regarding the increasing bandit activities in specific parts of the state, particularly along the Gusau-Funtua, Magami-Dangulbi, Dan Kurmi-Anka, and Magami-Dansadau roads. Governor Lawal urged the military and police heads to implement CSK platforms and Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs) for continuous patrolling of the affected routes. The state government pledged to provide essential assistance and logistical support as needed.
Furthermore, Governor Lawal urged the security chiefs to take decisive measures to dismantle all bandits’ camps across the state, reinforcing the commitment to restoring peace and security within the region.
