The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State has rejected claims made by concerned citizens that traditional leaders are attempting to sway the outcome of the ongoing Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal in favor of Governor Abdullahi Sule.
Citizens of Nasarawa State had raised concerns about the involvement of traditional rulers in influencing the tribunal’s decision. These concerns led to a statement issued by the Concerned Citizens of Nasarawa State, urging traditional leaders to refrain from interfering in political matters and to uphold their roles as custodians of the people.
The traditional rulers, allegedly led by the Emir of Lafia, were said to have met with top Federal Government officials in Abuja to discuss the tribunal’s proceedings, which was met with skepticism and resistance from the concerned citizens’ group.
In response, the APC denied the allegations and criticized those spreading the rumors. The party maintained that Governor Abdullahi Sule’s victory was legitimate and expressed confidence that his triumph would be upheld by the tribunal. The party’s statement emphasized the ongoing judicial process and cautioned against baseless rumors and speculations.
The situation underscores the sensitivity of political matters and the role of traditional leaders in governance processes. As the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal proceedings continue, the focus remains on upholding the principles of justice and fairness in the electoral process.
