In connection with the alleged rape of an 18-year-old female in Benin, Edo State, officers of the Edo State Police Command have detained Stanley Obodo from Delta State.
After the rape at the guest home where the suspect stayed, the girl’s vagina began to swell, and she was sent to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, where she is still undergoing treatment.
Muhammed Dankwara, the state’s commissioner of police, stated that the victim’s father had informed the Ologbo police division that sometime in March, a certain Obode Stanley God’sprofit (24), a family friend, had met his daughter on the way and had taken her to a guest house at Idogbo where he had stayed in one of the rooms.
“The suspect then mixed up something and offered it to her to drink. At this point, she fell asleep, and when she woke up the following morning, she saw the suspect was gone and her private area was enlarged.
According to Dankwara, the woman was transported by the police to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), where she is now being treated. Dankwara further stated that the suspect had been apprehended, had given a statement, and had admitted to the crime.
The suspect denied using any substance on the girl or raping her in a press conference.
“I did not rape her; she is my girlfriend, and I occasionally invited her to stay at my lodge in Benin in April. She knew everything we did and we had direct sexual contact.
“Last week, her family called me through my friend, I know the girl, and arrested me, saying I used their daughter for money ritual and that after our sexual activity, she started having swollen breasts and vagina. “I am in shock that her virginal is swollen, I didn’t use any substance on her and I didn’t use her for any ritual, and thank God she is responding to treatment.
