The Troubling Dreams of Some Tongues-Practicing Christians – Dr. Olukoya’s Insights

Dr. Daniel Olukoya, the General Overseer of the Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries, delivered a sermon titled “The Battle Against Cryptic Demons (2)” during the Power Must Change Hands service for his congregation.

He began by reading from the Book of Matthew 12:43–44, which states, “When an unclean spirit leaves a person, it roams through arid places in search of rest but finds none. Then it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when it returns, it finds the house empty, swept clean, and in order.”

Dr. Olukoya then elaborated, explaining that this passage metaphorically represents the human life as “My house” and emphasized the importance of receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit to fill this spiritual dwelling. He stressed that the presence of impurities in one’s life prevents the glory of God from inhabiting it. To illustrate his point, he drew a parallel with Jesus cleansing the temple, using a whip to drive out the traders, who symbolize unclean spirits.

Furthermore, Dr. Olukoya questioned the paradoxical behavior of some individuals who profess holiness yet engage in negative actions, such as cursing and abusing others or experiencing illnesses despite praying for healing. He likened these contradictions to the presence of unclean spirits within the believer’s temple.

He said, “This is why you can see somebody who claims to be holy and does something horrible. Why should somebody who is prophesying also curse and abuse people? Why should somebody pray for a sick person and the sickness comes back to him? Somebody who will sing just now, and the spirit of God will come down, and when the same person loses their temper, the whole place will be boiling.”

In conclusion, he addressed the unsettling phenomenon where Christians who speak in tongues encounter distressing dreams, including scenarios like dining with deceased relatives, engaging in water or snake-related activities, or experiencing dream marriages, leading to spiritual decline. Dr. Olukoya underscored the gravity of this issue and called for fervent prayer to confront these challenges.
