Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has distributed 50kg bags of rice and N5,000 to 3,100 beneficiaries across Awe, Keana, and Obi Local Government Areas as part of subsidy removal palliatives. The governor mentioned that this distribution is part of a broader initiative to alleviate the effects of the fuel subsidy removal on the people.
In addition to the rice and cash, Governor Sule revealed that all civil servants in the state, both at the state and local government levels, would receive N10,000 as palliatives, while pensioners would receive N5,000 each for six months. The state also has an ongoing social investment program, “Kudin AA Sule,” which is distributed monthly to beneficiaries.
The governor assured the people that more palliatives would be distributed in the coming days, urging those not included in the first round to be patient as everyone in the state would benefit from the federal government’s gesture.
The distribution of palliatives follows the federal government’s approval of N5 billion for each state to alleviate the hardship faced by citizens due to the removal of petroleum subsidy.
