Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has called on security agencies to investigate the tragic death of 27-year-old journalist Yusuf Mubaarak, whose lifeless body was discovered in Ilorin, the state capital. Mubaarak, a new media personality from Ilorin, went missing on Wednesday night and was found deceased in the Unity Road area of the city on Saturday.
Governor AbdulRazaq expressed his shock and sadness over the circumstances surrounding Mubaarak’s death, emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation by security agencies. He conveyed his heartfelt condolences to Mubaarak’s family, friends, and the youth in the state, condemning the violence that led to the young journalist’s demise. The governor called for the immediate and comprehensive investigation into the incident to bring the perpetrators to justice, pledging that no resources would be spared in the pursuit of justice.
The Kwara State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) also mourned the loss of Yusuf Mubaarak and expressed deep concern over the resurgence of cult-related violence and hooliganism in the state capital. The PDP noted that Mubaarak had used his social media platform to advocate for good governance and fight against injustice. The party called on Governor AbdulRazaq to return to the state and address the rising issues, emphasizing the need for effective governance in Kwara.
