A tragic incident unfolded in Imo State as gunmen launched a deadly attack, resulting in the killing of eight security agents, which included soldiers, policemen, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) personnel. This horrific event occurred in Umualumaku community, situated in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of the state, sending shockwaves through the region.
The assailants executed a well-coordinated ambush on a joint security taskforce team that was traveling in two security trucks. In a gruesome act, they set the vehicles ablaze while the security agents were still inside, resulting in the tragic loss of all personnel on board. None of them survived the deadly attack, as they met their untimely demise inside the burning operational vehicles.
An anonymous security operative confirmed the incident, mentioning that additional security teams had been dispatched to the scene of the crime. The primary objective is to apprehend the culprits responsible for this heinous act and recover the bodies of the fallen security personnel.
A local resident in the community, who requested anonymity due to security concerns, revealed that he had seen the security agents just moments before the attack. The shocking incident has thrown the entire community into turmoil and panic.
Although the police spokesperson, Henry Okoye, confirmed the distressing event, he requested some time to gather comprehensive details regarding the attack.
