The United Kingdom is set to adopt a more flexible and practical approach to achieving its net-zero carbon emissions goal by 2050, as announced by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak during a press conference on Wednesday.
Sunak emphasized the need for a pragmatic, proportionate, and realistic strategy to reach the net-zero target. As part of this shift in policy, the ban on the sale of petrol and diesel cars, originally slated for 2030, will now be postponed to 2035.
Further details regarding these policy adjustments are expected to be released in due course.
