Minister of tourism poisoning being investigated by police

Haruna Garba, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command’s commissioner of police, has directed the Mabushi Police Division to immediately hand over control of the ongoing investigation into the alleged poisoning of Lola Ade-John, the minister of tourism, who is being treated at the Federal Medical Center, to the State Criminal Investigation Department.

In an exclusive phone interview with our correspondent on Saturday, SP Josephine Adeh, the public relations officer for the FCT Police Command, disclosed the development.

According to SP Adeh, “the CP has ordered the Mabushi Police Division that was looking into the matter to immediately transfer it to the SCID.”

According to reports, Ade-John, 60, who was appointed as a minister by President Bola Tinubu in August, has been hospitalized in Abuja after being alleged to have experienced acute poisoning from an unknown origin. Her family is concerned that time is running out on their attempts to save her life.

As reported by family sources aware with her struggle, the minister was reportedly rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Jabi, soon after showing signs of illness. As of Saturday morning, our journalist learned that she had been there for five days.
