Lagos, Nigeria – October 1, 2023
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has called upon Nigerians to pray for the country. During the church’s monthly thanksgiving service, Pastor Adeboye emphasized the importance of prayer for achieving true freedom, noting that independence from colonial rule did not guarantee freedom from poverty, terror, or sickness.
In his sermon titled “Free Indeed,” Pastor Adeboye stressed that decolonization from colonial masters did not automatically lead to freedom from societal challenges. He urged Nigerians to unite for the salvation of the nation, emphasizing that genuine freedom encompassed physical, material, and spiritual liberation.
Pastor Adeboye highlighted that true freedom meant being free from physical, material, and spiritual bondage. He encouraged individuals to trust in the liberating power of Jesus Christ and to continue praying for the nation’s well-being.
He noted, “You cannot claim that you are free indeed if you have physical problems and you are bound by physical or spiritual darkness. To be free indeed, you must not be in bondage physically, materially, and spiritually.”
Pastor Adeboye emphasized the responsibility of individuals to pray for the salvation of their nation and to bring as many souls to Christ as possible. He stated that when individuals find freedom in Christ, it can also become applicable to a nation since a nation is composed of individuals.
In conclusion, Pastor Adeboye wished Nigerians a joyful celebration and, above all, true freedom and liberty in Christ. He encouraged believers to continue praying for the nation and working together to bring salvation and transformation to Nigeria.
