Gombe Governor Swears in Commissioners: Prioritizing Integrity

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, administered the oath of office to newly appointed commissioners on Thursday, emphasizing the importance of integrity and accountability in his administration. During the swearing-in ceremony, Governor Yahaya reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to combating corruption and promoting competence.

He stated that the successful implementation of the government’s development agenda is non-negotiable, and the appointments were made based on criteria such as qualifications, experience, hard work, commitment, loyalty, and performance in promotion examinations and interviews.

Among the 17 newly appointed commissioners, two are women, and five have previously served in the state’s administration. Notable names in the list include Barrister Zubairu Umar, Mohammed Magaji, Aishatu Maigari, Dr. Habu Dahiru, and Nasiru Gwani, among others.

Governor Yahaya reminded the commissioners of their significant responsibilities, emphasizing that they are entrusted with serving the people of Gombe State with integrity, transparency, and accountability. He highlighted the direct impact their decisions would have on the lives of citizens and expressed confidence that they would carry out their roles with a strong sense of duty and high ethical standards.

The Governor reinforced his administration’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption and incompetence, urging the commissioners to approach their duties diligently and manage resources prudently. He emphasized that their primary objective should be the progress and welfare of Gombe State and its people.

Additionally, Governor Yahaya swore in a new Head of Service, Ahmed Abdullahi, and 12 new permanent secretaries, reinforcing his commitment to strengthening the state’s civil service and ensuring effective governance.

The swearing-in ceremony reflects the Governor’s dedication to fostering transparency, accountability, and ethical governance in Gombe State, setting the tone for his administration’s commitment to achieving its development goals.
