The Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has expressed profound grief over the passing of Senator Bello Maitama Yusuf, characterizing it as a monumental loss to both his family and the entire nation.
In an official statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Sanusi Dawakin Tofa, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf lamented that the demise of Senator Bello Maitama Yusuf has created an irreplaceable void in society.
Senator Bello Maitama Yusuf, who served as a senator between 1999 and 2007, passed away in the early hours of Friday in Kano at the age of 76.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf offered his prayers for the peaceful repose of the late Sardauna of Dutse’s soul and extended his condolences to Senator Yusuf’s family, the people of Jigawa State, and the entire nation. He also prayed that God would grant them the strength to endure this irreparable loss.
Senator Bello Maitama Yusuf, a distinguished senior technocrat, Islamic scholar, seasoned politician, and prominent business figure, held the position of Minister of Internal Affairs and Commerce from 1979 to 1982. Additionally, he served multiple terms as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, representing Jigawa State.
The funeral prayer for Senator Bello Maitama Yusuf was held at the mosque of Kano Emir’s Palace following the Jumaat prayer, commencing at 2:30 pm.
The statement concluded with a heartfelt wish for Senator Yusuf’s soul to rest in the highest ranks of Jannatul Firdausy.
