In a significant development, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially abandoned the traditional paper and pencil test model in favor of the Computer-Based Test (CBT) for the Senior School Certificate Examination. This transformative move, set to commence with the February 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination for private candidates, follows global best practices in examination administration.

The decision, aimed at modernizing the examination process, was disclosed in a statement released by Moyosola Adesina, the acting head of the Public Affairs Unit of WAEC. The shift to CBT is expected to bring about notable improvements and efficiencies in the conduct of the exams. Stay tuned for more details as this story unfolds.
