Prof. Patrick Egaga, the University of Calabar’s Director of Servicom, was kidnapped on Sunday night by armed individuals at the staff residences.
It was reported that Egaga, a professor at the institution’s Department of Special Education, was kidnapped at home.
In a Monday interview with newsmen in Calabar, the Cross River Police Command confirmed the kidnapping and stated that steps have been taken to ensure his release.
Although the family did not report the incident, the command’s spokesperson, SP Irene Ugbo, stated that “we are working to secure his release.”
According to Mr. Effiong Eyo, the institution’s spokesperson, the university was informed of the kidnapping on Monday morning.
The don was reportedly swept away by the shooters over the river that overlooked the staff housing at the institution.
It was learned that they entered the state via the same river that links Calabar and the Akpabuyo Local Government Area.
