Who Takes The Lead During Sex?

Sometimes, seemingly small things can cause big problems in relationships. One of these issues is when, in the dark of the night, someone reaches out to their partner, hoping for a cuddle or intimacy, and doesn’t get much of a response. This might not just be about physical closeness; it’s about feeling wanted and appreciated in the relationship.

The problem arises when the lack of response is misunderstood. It could be because someone is tired after a long day or simply not in the mood. However, in the dim bedroom, assumptions are made without talking about it, leading to hurt feelings and sometimes even relationship troubles.

Underlying this is a more serious issue: shame. If someone’s advances are not reciprocated, and they already have low self-esteem, they might automatically think the other person finds them disgusting. Ideally, in a healthy relationship, partners would discuss such matters calmly and figure out what’s going on. If there’s a real lack of interest or emotional connection, it might be best to part ways.

But when shame is involved, it’s harder to communicate effectively. Feeling unaccepted, people may stay in a relationship that isn’t good for them. They might not express their needs or leave because they don’t feel worthy of something better.

Therefore, in the face of unreciprocated affection, it’s essential to confront these feelings of shame, turn on the metaphorical light, and talk about the pain. It encourages addressing the issue without feeling ashamed and considering options for a healthier relationship.
