In a shocking and tragic incident, Miss Toyin Bamidele, a Higher National Diploma student of Food Technology at the Federal Polytechnic, Offa in Kwara State, was allegedly hacked to death by unidentified individuals. The gruesome murder took place in her rented apartment outside the campus on Thursday, leaving the university community in disbelief.
The acting Head of the Public Relations Unit of the institution, Mrs. Folake Oyinloye, revealed that the management of the polytechnic has initiated an investigation into the heinous crime in collaboration with security agencies. Expressing strong condemnation for the inhumane act, Oyinloye stated that the circumstances surrounding the incident are yet unknown, and efforts are underway to uncover the identity of those responsible.
While addressing the media, Oyinloye emphasized the urgency of the investigation, stating, “Her demise is an irreparable loss to the entire management and staff of the polytechnic. The management somberly condoles with her family, friends, and the Department of Food Technology for the great loss and urges anyone who has useful information on this occurrence to report to security agents.”
Despite attempts to contact the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olaiya Mobolaji, for a statement on the matter, all efforts proved unsuccessful as he could not be reached. The entire university community is left in shock and mourning as they await further developments in the investigation into this tragic event.
