Yusuf Abubakar, a user of X (previously Twitter), has accused the Edo State Police Command of failing to hold the person suspected of killing his cousin, Isiyaka Musa, accountable.
This was revealed by Abubakar in a number of tweets that were sent on his X account on Monday.
According to information obtained by the media, the tweep’s cousin was slain by a group of suspected hunters in the Sasaro community of Akoko-Edo Local Government Area, Edo State, while the cows were grazing.
Further information was obtained indicating that the 21-year-old Musa had been shot by the hunters and set ablaze.
Abubakar claims that once the case was brought to the attention of the Edo State Police Command, the police were accused of failing to take any action to apprehend the supposed killers. He emphasized once more that the purported suspect went so far as to threaten his family.
“Hunters in Akoko, Edo State, killed a gentleman named Yusuf Abubakar, my cousin. Despite the fact that no one has been taken into custody, my family is still in grief and sadness over the hunters’ heinous and terrible deed.
We are the Fulani herder Bornakaen family, and we have lived in Edo for more than 40 years. We have a reputation for being law-abiding, peaceful, harmonious, and peace-loving people.
On October 23, 2023, one of our sons, Isiyaka Musa, age 21, was shot and burned by hunters from the Igara village.
The offenders continue to threaten us, saying that nothing will stop them from wiping us all out. We’re all from Nigeria!
We are writing with immense sadness and anguish over our brother’s heinous and senseless death at the hands of Igara community hunters on October 23, 2023, while he was grazing. Nothing has been done despite our reporting the crime to the Edo State Police Command,” he tweeted.
In order to help bring justice to the murder of his cousin, Abubakar implored the police authorities to assist.
“We will not permit our family member to be murdered like an animal, even if we are law-abiding people. In order for justice to prevail, we are pleading with the security services and well-meaning Nigerians to step in.
Media representatives were contacted by Edo State Police Public Relations Officer Chidi Nwabuzor, who stated that an investigation was underway to find out more and that more details would be released as soon as the inquiry was over.
The matter is being looked into. We will make the results public as soon as the agents have completed their investigation,” Nwabuzor stated.
