The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State has appealed to the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), David Ombugadu, to cease further litigation after the Court of Appeal reversed the sack of Governor Abdullahi Sule on Thursday. The Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal had earlier declared Ombugadu as the winner of the 2023 governorship election, leading to an appeal by Governor Sule.
In a statement issued by the APC Publicity Secretary, Chief Douglas Otaru, the party expressed that pursuing the matter to the Supreme Court would be a waste of time and resources for the PDP in the state. Otaru emphasized that the judgment reflected the people’s trust in the present administration and Governor Sule’s commitment to the progress of the state.
The statement read, “This triumph has again, validated and reaffirmed the overwhelming support our Party and its candidate has continued to receive from the majority of the people of the state which hitherto translated to our victory during the March 18 governorship election.”
The APC urged its supporters to celebrate responsibly and called on PDP members to put aside differences and support the administration of Governor Abdullahi Sule for the state’s progress. The party emphasized the need for unity beyond political affiliations and encouraged collaboration for the betterment of Nasarawa State.
In response to the judgment, the PDP has reportedly rejected it and is making arrangements to approach the Supreme Court for redress.
