The opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of traveling abroad ahead of the first anniversary of his administration to avoid giving an account of his stewardship. The governor assumed office on November 27, 2022.
In a statement by the Osun APC Chairman, Mr. Tajudeen Lawal, the party alleged that Adeleke had run the state aground through incompetence, lack of proper education, and zero administrative acumen. The APC leader claimed that the governor fled abroad to evade accountability and criticized his administration for mismanaging over N130 billion in revenue accrued to the state in the last year.
On the contrary, Governor Adeleke, in a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, refuted the claims, stating that his administration surpassed the annual good governance targets set upon assuming office. He highlighted achievements in various sectors, including road infrastructure, education, health, water projects, science and technology, and public service reforms.
Adeleke defended his record, asserting that the opposition APC is nursing the wound of electoral defeat and is reluctant to acknowledge positive changes in the state. The governor emphasized his commitment to the welfare of the people and outlined key accomplishments within the first year of his administration.
