Covenant University Denies Fake Professors

Covenant University in Ota, Ogun State, has vehemently denied the inclusion of four purported fake professors among those allegedly uncovered by the National Universities Commission (NUC). The university’s management refuted the claims in a statement released by the Head of Communication Unit, ChiChi Ononiwu, on Sunday.

Responding to the allegations surrounding the discovery of approximately 100 fake professors across various Nigerian universities, including Covenant University, Ononiwu clarified that the institution does not have any individuals matching the names listed in the published NUC article on its payroll.

“The University Management wishes to set the record straight, as we have no such names as listed in the said article in our payroll. Also, Covenant had never interacted with any of the four persons at any time and in any capacity, as the university would not appoint unqualified persons as professors,” she emphasized.
Ononiwu highlighted the rigorous nature of Covenant University’s recruitment processes, emphasizing that
institution adheres to world-class standards for appointments and promotions. The statement concluded with the university urging stakeholders to disregard the misinformation, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining the highest academic standards.
