RCCG Limits Non-Member Preaching

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), led by Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has clarified the recent directive outlined in a memo regarding the invitation of guest ministers to preach in its parishes. The memo, dated January 5, 2024, had instructed that no external preacher, speaker, or minister should be allowed on the church’s altars or platforms, and only recognized RCCG members should be invited.

Pastor Olaitan Olubiyi, the RCCG Head of Media and Public Relations, explained in an interview that the memo was meant to be an internal document and emphasized that the directive wasn’t a complete ban. Instead, it was described as a guideline to ensure that approvals were obtained before external individuals were invited to preach.

He stated, “What the church is saying is that before any of our branches invite a preacher from another church or another ministry, clearance should be sought.” According to Olubiyi, this guideline aligns with the church’s doctrines and beliefs. The intention is to maintain standards and ensure that any external preacher adheres to the RCCG’s principles.

He emphasized that the church’s authorities need to approve external speakers to make sure they align with the RCCG’s doctrines and beliefs. The directive aims to maintain consistency and uphold the church’s standards when it comes to preaching and teaching in its parishes.

In summary, the RCCG has clarified that the memo serves as a guideline to seek approval before inviting external ministers, and it is not an outright ban but a measure to uphold the church’s doctrines and practices.
