Tinubu Mourns Lagos Baba Adini

President Bola Tinubu expressed his condolences following the passing of Sheikh Abdul-Hafeez Aṣhamu Abou, the Baba Adinni of Lagos and Chairman of the Executive Council of Lagos Central Mosque. Tinubu conveyed his sympathy to Baba Adini’s family, the Muslim community in Lagos, and the Lagos State Government.

In a statement released on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu acknowledged the heavy-hearted reception of the news. The statement read, “It is with a heavy heart that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu receives the news of the passing of His Eminence, Sheikh Abdul-Hafeez Aṣhamu Abou, Baba Adinni of Lagos and Chairman of the Executive Council of Lagos Central Mosque.”

President Tinubu celebrated the remarkable legacy of service, duty, and sacrifice left behind by Baba Adini, who passed away at the age of 100. The President recognized the extraordinary contributions made by Baba Adinni to the Muslim Ummah, Lagos State, and beyond.

Baba Adini dedicated his entire life to the service of the people, embodying the highest moral codes. President Tinubu described him as a fine example for everyone, emphasizing that Baba Adini’s impact will be deeply felt and greatly missed. The President encouraged everyone to find solace in Baba Adini’s legacy and to uphold the values of honesty, dignity, and sacrifice that he championed throughout his life.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Abdul-Hafeez Aṣhamu Abou passed away on Tuesday. Notably, he had celebrated his 100th birthday in August 2022. The Muslim community, as well as the broader Lagos community, mourns the loss of a revered figure who left an indelible mark through a life dedicated to selfless service and moral principles.
