Tinubu Cabinet Reshuffle Speculation

No Immediate Plans for Cabinet Reshuffle Until Fraud Investigations Conclude

The Presidency has clarified that any potential cabinet reshuffle by President Bola Tinubu is contingent upon the conclusion of ongoing investigations into the alleged fraud in the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation and its Social Investment Programmes. Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, stated that the administration will not spare anyone found culpable in the investigations.

In a statement on Sunday, Ngelale addressed speculations about a possible cabinet reshuffling amid the recent issues in the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs. He emphasized that the President would await the results of the investigation before making any decisions, ensuring a clear understanding of the findings and whether other officials should be involved.

Ngelale stated, “The President, Tinubu has ordered a thorough investigation. And wherever that investigation takes him, he will act accordingly.” He also highlighted that the President, being fully aware of the activities within his administration, would not make a move until he has a clear idea of the investigation’s outcomes.

Regarding the ongoing probe, Ngelale revealed that the President instructed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) chairman to conduct a thorough investigation without sparing anyone found wanting. The President’s commitment to discipline, corruption-free governance, and competency within his administration was underscored.

He added that President Tinubu had made it clear to all members of his administration that he would not tolerate indiscipline, corruption, dereliction of duty, or any form of incompetence. Ngelale emphasized that the President would act promptly if someone is found unfit for their role.

The recent suspension of the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, along with the directive for investigations, signals the administration’s commitment to accountability and transparency. President Tinubu suspended the Social Investment Programmes administered by the National Social Investment Programme Agency, including the school-feeding programme, and established a Special Presidential Panel to reform the relevant institutions and programs. The panel, led by Mr. Wale Edun, aims to identify and rectify institutional frailties and restore public confidence in the initiatives.
