The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has promised to ensure that the Edo governorship primary election is free, fair, and credible.
Caleb Mutfwang, the head of the primaries screening committee and Governor of Plateau State, made the statement while meeting PDP hopefuls at the National Headquarters in Abuja.
“We appreciate the concerns that you all have expressed in asking for a level playing field; we are going to be strong advocates of that.”We will ensure that, at the end of the day, we have a transparent and fair process, as I am a beneficiary of that process.
“We will ensure that when all is said and done, we will still work together as one big family,” Mutfwang went on to say.
Mr. Philip Shaibu, Edo Deputy Governor, spoke on behalf of the aspirants and committed to following the laws.
Another aspirant, Mr Osaro Onaiwu, said the PDP must work hard to win the Edo governorship race.
Onaiwu, a former Director-General of the PDP Governors’ Forum, stated that if the right thing is done, all aspirants will support whoever emerges as the party’s nominee in the election.
“Winning Edo is a party priority, and it is a must-win for the PDP; we cannot let Edo slide into the opposition’s hands.
“I have told everyone to drop their egos and support whoever emerges as the PDP candidate for Edo State as long as the process is free, fair, and transparent,” he stated.
