The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State has canceled the election of ward delegates for Etsako Central due to the purported abduction of nine electoral officers.
The governor Peter Mbah-led delegates congress committee made the decision, according to Mr. Tony Aziegbemi, the state PDP chairman, who made this claim in an interview with reporters in Benin on Monday.
Nonetheless, he stated that the postponement would not impact the PDP governorship primary scheduled for February 22.
Considering that there were 31 delegates in Etsako Central and 594 delegates in the state overall, he said that the choice was in the best interests of the party.
“You will concur with me that 31 out of 594 is a negligible number that won’t significantly impact the primary election.
He declared, “We value the lives of those who have been abducted and are praying for their safe return.”
Aziegbemi urged the party’s disgruntled gubernatorial candidates to seek remedies from the appeal panel.
The chairman further urged the disgruntled candidates to use caution when criticizing the party. claiming that its reputation was being damaged.
