The winners of the rerun and by-election on Saturday were given Certificates of Return by the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC, on Wednesday.
The event took place at INEC’s Abuja headquarters.
The recipients of the certificates were Mr. Pam Dachungyang, the senator-elect for Plateau North, Prof. Anthony Okorie, the senator-elect for Ebonyi South, and Musa Mustapha, the senator-elect for Yobe East.
Other members included Representative-elect Ifeanyi Ozokwe for Nnewi North/Nnewi South/Ekwusigo, Representative-elect Clara Nnabuife for Orumba North/Orumba South, Representative-elect Ehindero Babatunde for Akoko North East/Akoko North West, and Representative-elect Daniel Ago for Jos North/Basa.
Soon after receiving his certificate, Okorie gave a speech in which he thanked the people of Ebonyi South for their victory and urged them to trust him to represent them well in the Senate.

“Nigeria will be better if we have stronger institutions than stronger people,” he declared.
Additionally, Ozokwe praised President Bola Tinubu for refraining from meddling in the byelection and rerun.
He also complimented the security staff for their conduct during the poll, which was professional.
Nnabuife also expressed gratitude to the residents of Orumba South and North, particularly the women who supported her and trusted her with their mission, promising not to disappoint them.
