In a surprising turn of events, Porsha Williams, known for her role in the Real Housewives of Atlanta, has officially filed for divorce from her Nigerian husband, Simon Guobadia, after just 15 months of marriage.
Contrary to speculations surrounding Guobadia’s citizenship status, sources close to the couple have stated that the divorce, initiated on Friday, February 23, is unrelated to any allegations regarding Guobadia’s residency in the United States. Recent reports suggested that the Nigerian-born Guobadia, aged 59, had faced multiple denials of residency in the country.

Interestingly, Guobadia appeared nonchalant about the speculations, taking to Instagram on Tuesday, February 20, to post “#42yearsLivinginAmerica.” Despite the divorce news, Porsha Williams has yet to publicly address the breakup. Notably, she still retains the last name “Guobadia” on her Instagram profile, and pictures with her now-separated husband remain on her feed.
Porsha and Guobadia made headlines when they announced their engagement in May 2021, just a month after they started dating. The couple officially tied the knot in November 2022.

This divorce development follows Porsha’s recent confirmation of her return to the Real Housewives of Atlanta for season 16. In a statement on February 13, she expressed gratitude to NBCUniversal for their faith in her and the opportunity to be a more significant part of their family. Despite the personal turmoil, Porsha seems ready to showcase her new world to the audience on the reality show.
