In a landmark decision, the executive board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) announced on Friday the reappointment of Kristalina for a second five-year term as the Managing Director of the organization, as reported by Findwhosabi News.
Georgieva, who stood as the sole candidate for the position, is set to continue her tenure when her current term concludes on September 30, 2024.
The board’s decision, reached by consensus, underscores the confidence and trust placed in Georgieva’s leadership, as emphasized in the official statement released by the IMF.

Expressing her gratitude, Georgieva stated, “I am deeply grateful for the trust and support of the Fund’s Executive Board, representing our 190 members, and honored to continue to lead the IMF as Managing Director.”
