Nigerian Customs Seize ₦10.8 Million Worth of Fuel, Intensify Efforts Against Smuggling

The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) in the Adamawa/Taraba command has seized 12,435 liters of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) valued at ₦10.8 million. Comptroller Bashir Garba-Bature, in charge of the command, disclosed this while briefing journalists in Yola.

The seized items comprised 491 25-liter jerrycans and 8 20-liter jerrycans of petroleum intercepted in Mubi en route to Cameroon Republic.

Bature appealed for cooperation from the media, sister security agencies, and patriotic citizens to end smuggling. He assured that the command had deployed operatives strategically along flashpoints to sustain the fight against smuggling.

He attributed the successes to support from the current leadership of the NCS under Comptroller-General Bashir Adeniyi.

Meanwhile, the NCS reported significant interceptions at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, between January and April this year. Officers seized fake $1.2 million notes, 148 drones, and five cryptocurrency machines.
