Removing Wike From Our Party Before 2027 Election Is A Banana Peel – PDP Chieftain

Dare Glintstone Akinniyi, spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Youth Group, has dismissed rumors of the party’s intention to expel Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike. Akinniyi emphasized the significant influence of Wike and his supporters within the party.

In an interview with Legit, Akinniyi expressed his opinion on the potential expulsion of Wike and other members of the G5 faction ahead of the 2027 general election, describing such a move as “a banana peel.”

He argued that expelling Wike at this juncture, when the party is already divided, would be ill-timed. Instead, Akinniyi urged the PDP reconciliation committee to prioritize party unity and focus on preparing for the upcoming election.

“At the moment, expelling anyone is a ‘banana peel,'” Akinniyi remarked. “If the expulsion had happened before the 2023 Elections, it would probably make some sense and be understandable. As it stands now, the PDP is divided, and we can’t overlook the influence of Wike and his loyalists.”

Akinniyi called for the reconciliation committee to convene all stakeholders and impose sanctions for actions contrary to the party’s interests. He emphasized the importance of fostering unity and cohesion within the PDP in preparation for future electoral contests.
