A Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Maitama has granted former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Godwin Emefiele a ₦300 million bail. Emefiele faces a four-count charge related to printing new Naira notes without following due process.
Emefiele pleaded not guilty to the charges brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The court’s bail conditions require him to provide two sureties, each owning property in Maitama, and to surrender his travel documents. He must also seek court permission before traveling abroad.
The bail terms align with those set by Justice Hamza Muazu in a related case. Emefiele’s trial is set to commence on May 28.
