Peter Obi Reacts to Tinubu’s Fall, Urges Compassion

The 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has responded to President Bola Tinubu’s fall at Eagle Square during the 2024 Democracy Day celebration. In a statement on his X account, Obi expressed sadness over the incident, emphasizing that it could happen to anyone and should not be a source of ridicule.

Obi stressed the importance of compassion and empathy, urging Nigerians to focus on the country’s progress rather than dwelling on the President’s fall. He acknowledged his disagreements with Tinubu on national issues but highlighted their shared humanity.

He wrote, “I was saddened to learn of President Tinubu’s unfortunate fall today. I wish him well… While we profoundly disagree on how to move Nigeria forward, we must remember our common human frailty. Let us stay focused on the issues that will lead to a new Nigeria.”
