Members of the All Progressive Congress (APC), represented by the Concerned Members of the APC, have criticized the 27 state Assembly members loyal to former governor Nyesom Wike.
According to reports, amid the state’s ongoing political turmoil, Speaker Amaewhule led some lawmakers in defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, announcing the defection on the House floor in December 2023.

However, Governor Siminalayi Fubara recently declared their seats vacant, sating that their mode of defection was illegal. In a recent ruling, the Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt determined that Amaewhule and the other 26 lawmakers remain PDP members.

In response, the All Progressive Congress, in a statement signed by its President, Ezegwu Thomas, labeled the lawmakers as ‘political prostitutes’ with no true allegiance to any political party.

The group warned the APC leadership against accepting these lawmakers, citing their history of political opportunism and suggesting that their inclusion could harm the party’s unity and progress.
