The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has disassociated itself from a rumored plot by certain groups to stage demonstrations against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The EFCC had earlier raised concerns about a covert group mobilizing young Nigerians, including students, via social media to protest against the Commission.
In a statement issued on Thursday, NANS President Lucky Emonefe condemned these attempts to exploit students for such agendas. Emonefe emphasized that NANS fully supports the EFCC’s mission to eradicate corruption in Nigeria. He criticized the shadowy groups for trying to intimidate the anti-graft agency and divert it from its critical work.
NANS also alerted students to the danger of being manipulated into actions that could undermine the EFCC’s efforts to maintain the nation’s financial stability and integrity. The organization urged students to remain vigilant and resist being used by unscrupulous individuals seeking to disrupt the EFCC’s progress.
